It’s Groundhog Day and time for another edition of Terrific News Tuesday!
In case this is your first time reading Terrific News Tuesday (TNT), this column is all about good news. I know it’s hard to believe, but I won’t be complaining or criticizing anyone or anything today – just writing about some terrific news that caught my attention!
Here is some of the good stuff in this edition of TNT:
- Malmstrom AFB Airmen
- Express Appeals Act
- Belt Theater
- MT Commissioner of Political Practices
- 2016 Primary Season
Malmstrom AFB Airmen:
A round of applause goes to the airmen from Malmstrom AFB and the civilians who provided assistance to Denisse Willis’ 18-month-old daughter, who was having a seizure. It happened near a busy intersection on 10th Avenue South in Great Falls.

Express Appeals Act:
U.S. Senator Jon Tester introduced bipartisan legislation called the Express Appeals Act that will streamline the lengthy Veterans Affairs (VA) disability appeals process, provide faster care for Montana veterans and save millions of dollars. (Source)
The appeals process in the VA takes forever, so anything that will speed up the process is good news.
Belt Theater:
The good news is that the historic Belt Theater is being restored, and thanks to about 30 volunteers from the Montana Air National Guard and Malmstrom Air Force Base the project is well on its way. KRTV has the story HERE.
Montana Commissioner of Political Practices:
It was good to see the Associated Press (AP) story about the backlog of complaints at the Montana Commissioner of Political Practices being clear for the first time in 18 years.
Although not everyone is happy with the current system of officiating campaigns in Montana, this is the system our legislature agreed to and it’s good to see that the office is not swamped with complaints as we approach the 2016 election season.
2016 Primary Season:
With the Iowa caucuses being held last night (Ted Cruz won for the Republicans, and Hillary Clinton won for the Democrats), the process to select our next President is underway! The good news is that it looks like this primary season will be unpredictable, which will make it enjoyable.
